When You’re Tired But Still Pushing: A Note to Women Carrying Too Much
It all begins with an idea.
So, you’re the one that everyone thinks “has it together.” Some days you might agree with that, but inside, you're feeling overwhelmed. Inside, you feel like anything other than someone who has it together. You may have heard the term burnout, and you may not think that you're burned out just yet. Maybe you call yourself overwhelmed, stressed, busy. Sometimes you're fluctuating between caring about everything and then caring about nothing. Sometimes you just want to sleep.
Many of the women I work with are high-functioning, capable, and emotionally aware—but still stressed, anxious, and giving all the time.
In therapy, we talk about more than just coping skills. We talk about why…why do you feel the need to keep going. Is it fear of letting people down? Maybe there's a belief that your life is tied up to how much you do for others and how well you do it. why is there guilt when you say no?
The goal here isn't to become selfish, but rather to understand that your time and energy and resources are every bit as valuable as everyone else's.
If you want to try to figure out how to stop people pleasing, or how to set boundaries, or say no, I'm here to help.
